Once upon a time

In the small city of Tacoma, WA there was a girl called Sonia. Sonia was one of the only Indians at her all girls school, and other than completing her Bharata Natyam Arangetram, she was very much an American girl. While Sonia was good at studying, she mostly spent her time competing nationally in debate and acting in plays - Like the Importance of Being Earnest, where she played the character Jack.

7295 miles away, in the “small town” of Calcutta, there was a boy called Yash. Yash was a Calcutta Marwari boy through and through who liked to think he ruled his all-boys school. While Yash was good at studying, he mostly spent his time hanging out with his friends, being captain of the debate team, and acting in plays - Like the Importance of Being Earnest, where he played Jack’s mother-in-law (it was an all boys school, after all)

Many years later in 2015, Yash and Sonia were both living in San Francisco.

Sonia had moved there to work at her first job in consulting and Yash was having fun completing his masters in public policy. One day, before they met, Vivian approached Yash and said “I’ve found the girl for you - she’s smart, but chaotic - perfect for you!” And that was Sonia!

A few months later, Lea introduced Sonia and Yash - And the two became friends. While drinking tea at Samovar, dancing in the Mission and walking along the Embarcadero, Yash became convinced that Sonia was the girl for him. Yash finally made his intentions clear after Yash’s friends Nab and Cassie threatened to leave him on the streets of New York unless he asked her to dinner - And their relationship began! In their early days, Sridhar would encourage Yash to dress well and impress Sonia, which clearly worked!

In 2017, Yash moved to India and they started a long distance relationship from San Francisco to Calcutta. In the years before COVID, Yash and Sonia would travel to see each other all over the world - The two of them have visited Maldives, France, Thailand, Turkey, Singapore, Bali, Sri Lanka, Kenya, London and several cities all over the US and India. During COVID, Yash and Sonia couldn’t meet for an entire year, which ended when Sonia finally moved to Bangalore, fulfilling her dream to move to India.

Now Sonia and Yash are settled in India and are looking forward to celebrating their beautiful forever with you!
